HEIGHT: 5'9" WEIGHT: 140 EYES: Green HAIR: Brown DISTINGUISHING MARKS: -Freckles over his nose and shoulders -Birthmark on his right jaw -Two small moles in front of his left ear -Various scars and callouses on his hands and lower arms from working with scrap metal -Six-inch scar on his right hip from a fall off a horse which landed him on a fence when he was 11 Ben has always been on the small side, never quite being the smallest kid in class but unquestionably close to it. As he grew up and started working on his family's junk yard he started to work his upper body and get more toned and muscled, always staying slim and shorter than most but between his muscle and stance he knows how to stand his own. He's got the almost-stereotypical bowed legs, tan skin, and heavy drawl of a small town Texas boy but he uses it to his advantage. He's got a mop of hair he always keeps longer than his mother would like since it's constantly falling in to his eyes, and a bright smile with deep dimples and pristine teeth. For the most part he's well-kept, though he seems to have dirt perpetually caked under his nails and if you catch him after a day out in the yard or just hanging around outdoors he'll probably be pretty dust-covered and sweaty. He also has a tendency to shave clean once or sometimes twice a week and then not at all the rest of the time. He's most likely to be seen in a button-up shirt and clean jeans, unless he's working, then it'll be a stained t-shirt and faded, ripped pair of jeans instead. Despite his hot-weather roots, he's only got one pair of shorts and they're for swimming and two pairs of slacks-one for weddings, one for funerals. Anytime else you'll find him in jeans, though he knows when to wear the neat, dark ones and when the faded, worn out ones are alright. If he's outdoors and not working (and sometimes indoors too depending on the occasion) you can almost certainly expect to see him in some sort of hat, favoring cowboy hats and the occasional fedora, and if attending any sort of event he'll make sure to wear a tie and belt with his shirt tucked in neatly. As far as footwear goes, he doesn't own any 'sneakers' he'll be found in either a pair of cowboy boots (though call them that and he'll promptly tell you not to) that are almost worn through and have been repaired repeatedly, work boots or formal shoes; though, if given the choice he'd just as gladly go barefoot anywhere it's 'proper'.

Ben is the embodyment of small-town Southern living and he's damn proud of it. Genuinely kind and warm almost to a fault, he'll go out of his way to make someone feel at home or comfortable, even if he's not really himself. He's charming and intelligent and he knows how to use it to his advantage-though he usually doesn't. He's got a wide smile and a loud laugh and he loves to keep people happy, and even though he never stives to be the center of attention he often finds himself there. But for as loud and friendly as he can be Ben is not an emotional guy. That's not so say he doesn't feel, he does, he just won't ever let anyone else see it. He doesn't shy away from emotional displays either, growing up with three sisters has taught him the best way to a woman's heart is to console it, not to mention it's the gentlemanly thing to, comfort someone when they're upset. He's not afraid of emotional displays, just won't be making any. To that effect though, Ben does not handle stress well. He has a tendency to try and ignore and ignore until it gets to the point he can't ignore any more and just ends up breaking down-which makes him hide. He'll lock himself away from everyone else until he figures out how to handle whatever is bothering him and once he comes back you'd never know anything happened. True to his upbringing, Ben is definitely a ladies man. He won't sleep around but he will flirt shamelessly and often, whether he's interested or not. His father always taught him he was supposed to be a gentleman to everyone, and in his mind that meant he pulled his charm and chivalry out anytime he was around women. It's also the reason that his crush on that boy with the guitar in freshman year or that time things got...uncomfortable working with one of the guys at his sister's stable never happened. And why there are a million other moments in his life that never happened. He's got nothing against anyone who is gay, or bi-sexual or anything else they want to be he is just...not. And he'll go to the grave telling the world that. To many, at least those he grew up around, the way he thought was a good thing; just meant he was a good Southern boy. But he's realized over the years and all the tourists that travel through Luckenbach that to some he just seems sexist and old-fashioned. This hasn't deterred him much though, he still believes his job is to support and care for the women around him-especially his family. Which is why when his father got diagnosed with the big C-pancreatic cancer- when he was 21 he took over as not only provider but as support for his mother and a male figure for his little sisters, who were 6, 10 and 15 at the time. It was only 6 months later that his father passed away, leaving Ben to run the family junk yard and a laundry list of hospital bills that the revenue won't cover. Thankfully the yard manager Earl stuck around and helped out as much as he could and Ben's oldest sister got married almost as soon as she turned 18, and the shop owners around town broke deals anywhere they could...but it still wasn't enough. Ben needs money and needs it fast or he's going to have to sell a business that's been in his family for generations and that's just not a possibility. Which is why when he finds a flyer for the experiment in a diner in town he knows what it is he has to do.

Ben was born and raised in the small semi-famous town of Luckenbach, Texas. Known mostly through the country music industry-most notably Willie Nelson-as an "old Texas town". The kind of place people think about when they want to look back at good old-fashioned Southern living. With a general store that's been open and in the same building 1886, a dance hall that's been open almost as long and is filled to the brim every weekend, it's like a scene out of some campy movie. In the town where "Everybody is somebody" Ben was certainly somebody from a young age. His family was always known since they ran the scrap yard in town and his Grandmama supplied the general store with homemade jams right up until she died when he was 10, and when Ben came along everyone already knew he'd be running the scrap heap some day. He took after his daddy like a shadow from the minute he could walk and always tried to live up to him but he was a loud and rowdy kid so he never had much trouble getting a reputation of his own either. By high school Ben was known as the friendly kid with the loud laugh who had the wit and handsome smile to charm his way in to or out of anything. He was always the first to ask a girl to the dance and somehow managed to make it through without breaking too many hearts. Ben had a pretty "normal" life up through high school but it was shortly after his 21st birthday that Ben grew up very very quickly. When his father was diagnosed with the big C-pancreatic cancer-he took over as not only provider but as support for his mother and a male figure for his little sisters, who were 6, 10 and 15 at the time.

Special Skills/Abilities: -He's been hunting almost as long as he's been walking and is an excellent shot with a rifle, even decent with a bow or handgun. -He knows his way around a car-mostly dissembling rather than fixing-and can deal with metal and scrap like the back of his hand. -Ben and his father were avid campers so he knows basic survival: fires, basic navigation, outdoor first aid, finding shelter and locating clean water Life Skills: He can cook basic meals (especially on a grill/fire) and knows how to clean just enough to get by, he'd never make a four-course meal or know how to get a coffee or grease stain out of his shirt but he can live. He went camping and hunting a lot as a kid so he knows how to start a fire, some navigation, skinning and gutting most game, and how to get around undetected. Personal Weaknesses: -Can't handle stress well: he will get overstressed easily and can get to the point of breakdown if the issue doesn't get resolved -Over-trusting: he grew up in a town where your word was worth more than gold and lying was a worse sin than murder so he's not used to dealing much with lying or deceit so it can be easy for him to trust people far more than he should -Temper: its not necessarily easy to work Ben up to the point of anger but when you do watch out. He's got a sharp tongue and hard fists and is more than willing to use both. Most would describe his fighting as "scrappy" but he's been known to hold his own against men bigger than anyone would expect -Women: he grew up in a very chivalrous environment and has a tendency to underestimate a deceitful woman. he won't fight or curse with women unless it's an extreme circumstance and even if there's evidence for him not to trust a women he still may fall to her charms if she plays the innocent Personal Strengths: -Charming: Ben knows how to work that southern charm to his advantage. He has gotten out of many jams with a cute smile and a nice "darlin'". But even more so he knows how to sweet talk him in to a more-than-worth-it deal -Working with his hands: give Ben a task that means he'll have to use his hands and spend hours working hard and he'll rise to the challenge like no other. He thrives on being able to work hard and see something come of it -Easy going: while he may stress easy and have a temper it's hard to get him to those points. he has a way of just letting the outside world roll off his back so unless it's his problem or he decides he wants to make it his problem it won't bother him in the slightest Greatest Fear(s): -Failing his family. He's taken the weight of his father's death on his shoulders and now feels like if he can't support his mother and three sisters and keep their yard running he'll be failing his family-the most important thing in the world to him. -People finding out he's bisexual. For all he loves his small town southern roots he realizes there is a general fault when it comes to being open-minded and he fears that if the people in his hometown knew how he felt about men he'd be ostracized. How he found out about the experiment: He saw a random flyer hanging in the diner in town, possibly brought in by a tourist.
